It is said that supporting a temple helps one accrue merit for as long as that temple exists. In that same way, as long as the work one supports brings benefit to beings, one accrues merit.

Your generosity is greatly appreciated and will help bring to life the Three Lotuses training model through the seminary I am in the process of developing. Graduates of this program will ultimately go on to establish temples, bringing the light of the Dharma to an often dark world.

The Three Characteristics of All Phenomena

There are many perspectives on the Buddha's teachings. I encourage you to listen to talks from a variety of teachers with an open mind. Each new "angle" from which we view the Dharma helps us to build a more useful picture of the teachings, or rather, a more sophisticated set of tools to use in our pursuit of the end of all ignorance.

A Buddhist Monk at a Korean Buddhist Temple

Welcome

In the Korean Tradition I am known as Venerable Hyemin. In the Vietnamese tradition, I am called Venerable Hue Hai.

This site will host my Dharma talks. I have created it in the hope of raising awareness of my doctoral research on the training of Western Buddhist clergy. My ultimate goal is to create a seminary that will focus on three key areas: Knowledge, Ethics, and Compassion.

While the Dharma has spread widely in the West and there are some deeply rooted communities that provide excellent training to their clergy and lay followers alike, many Western Buddhist monks and nuns are not trained or educated and are left floundering. We need more well qualified teachers rooted in the West willing to give their lives to this work.

I will regularly update the Dharma talks on this site. Please feel free to contact me with questions and ideas for future Dharma talks.

Your support for my research is greatly appreciated and will help me complete the project. Fundraising for the seminary itself will begin the fall of 2017.
